Most of Paris’ gay nightlife is concentrated in the trendy area of the Marais, which is also known for its boutique shopping, delicious food, and classically Parisian narrow streets. However, there is also a cluster of popular gay bars in Chatelet (which is close to the Marais) as well as several other venues spread out across the city. Larger dance nights tend to take place further out from the center, and gay saunas can be found throughout Paris.
It is also worth noting that because of Paris’ unique approach to city design, whereby historic buildings are continuously preserved and new builds are practically nonexistent, rooms tend to be on the smaller side. However, this is also what makes Paris such an exceptionally beautiful city, and is after all part of the charm.
Paris is, as a whole, an exceptionally gay-friendly city, meaning you are likely to find mixed gay/straight crowds across the board. France as a whole is very tolerant of homosexuality, with Paris having voted its first openly gay mayor back in 2001. Visitors to gay Paris are unlikely to raise any eyebrows and will be generally welcome.
The most booked hotels for gay travelers are located in Le Marais.
Marais is Paris’s main gay area, a trendy yet classically charming central neighborhood. While the vast majority of establishments are here, there are a few exceptions around the city.

♥ Many Paris gay nightlife hotspots just around the block
♥ Sleek design features a sauna and fitness
♥ Exceptionally friendly staff
This designer boutique hotel is located in the heart of the Marais, otherwise known as Paris’ gay neighborhood. It has a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence and is very popular with gay visitors to the city. Most of Paris’ gay bars, cafes, and clubs are nearby – Open Cafe, a staple of Paris gay nightlife, is located a short 3-minute walk away, as are popular hotspots COX, freedj, and RAIDD Bar. Unsurprisingly, Hotel Duo is one of the most booked gay hotels in Paris.
Hotel Duo is almost 100 years old, but you wouldn’t tell by walking into it. Despite having a long history, it has succeeded in remaining current and a recent renovation has left it looking stunning and spotless. It is entirely dedicated to exceptional design, with a decor that manages to be both modern and classic, understated and original. All the communal spaces are incredibly pleasant, especially the internal patio with its beautiful vertical garden. Inside the rooms, muted neutral tones are offset by pops of bright color, creating a friendly and inviting atmosphere.
One of the things that set Hotel Duo apart is its lovely and helpful staff. The hotel also boasts a small but well-equipped fitness room and a sauna to unwind after your workout. The breakfast is particularly tasty, with a wide range of continental options.
Why we love it
♥ Excellent central location for sightseeing and nightlife
♥ Located in the Marais, gayborhood about a 5-minute walk to major attractions
♥ Very high standard for a 3-star, with good value for money
Hotel Caron is located in the Marais, about ten minutes away from the main cluster of gay bars. Nearby attractions include the Picasso Museum, Centre Pompidou, Notre-Dame, the Chatelet shopping area, and Place des Vosges, which is just a 5-minute walk away.
This gay-friendly Paris hotel is relatively no-frills, but well-designed and pleasant nonetheless. The decor is stylish, modern, and understated. Rooms are on the smaller side (which is normal for Paris) but are always impeccably clean, with super comfy beds and good bathrooms.
All rooms have the standard amenities (such as air-conditioning/heating, TV, and WiFi), but there are also a few thoughtful extras to set the hotel apart, such as a minibar with complimentary soft drinks and snacks, free recent movies on demand, and toiletries by L’Occitane.
Breakfast is simple but high-quality, served in a lovely vaulted cellar. The service at Hotel Caron is particularly well-rated, with friendly English-speaking staff who are keen to enhance your stay in any way they can.

♥ Apartment-style rooms for ultimate comfort in the city
♥ Great location, including easy Metro access to the whole city
♥ Less than a minute’s walk to Banana Café (a popular gay bar)
Citadines Les Halles offers apartment-style accommodation in one of the most central locations in Paris. Les Halles is the city’s largest shopping center and is also a major transport hub: the Metro station of Chatelet (just one minute away from the hotel), connects to almost every public transport line in the city.
Nearby, you will find the Centre Pompidou, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Louvre, and last but not least the Marais gayborhood. However, there is actually a good-sized gay nightlife in the Chatelet area itself, with Le Velvet, The LABO, and Paris gay institution Banana Cafe just a stone’s throw away from the hotel.
The apartments are all comfortable and fairly spacious, ranging from studio size to 1-bedroom. The 1-bedroom apartment can sleep four people, making it a very convenient option for groups. There is not too much difference between the Studio and Studio Deluxe rooms, aside from a sofa and iPod docking station in the latter. All rooms come with air-conditioning, kitchenette, and high-speed internet.
The hotel also offers a good range of amenities, including self-service laundry, a business corner, and a basic fitness suite (if you need a better workout, popular gay gym and sauna Gym Louvre is less than 10 minutes away).
Citadines Les Halles has two TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence awards, and is a popular choice for gay travelers to Paris.
Why we love it
♥ Great location close to gay nightlife in Marais and Republique
♥ Clean, comfortable rooms with all the basics
♥ Good value for money for a hotel in Paris gayborhood
Le Relais du Marais is one of the most booked budget gay-friendly hotels in Paris. It is located a bit north of the Marais, but still within easy walking distance of its gay bars, clubs, and shops. It’s also just a short 5-minute walk of Apollo Theatre, which regularly hosts many beloved gay parties such as EXCITE, MENERGY, and La Nuit des Follivores. Trou Aux Biches, another popular gay dance party, is held at Le Java, about ten minutes further down the road from Apollo.
The hotel itself is no-frills, offering overall good value for money. The rooms are modern and well-designed but some are looking a bit tired in places. They are, however, comfortable and always perfectly clean. The rooms are also quite small, even for Parisian standards, but this is to be expected for the price you pay in such a good location.
This is a good choice if you are on a budget, want to stay centrally, and just need a clean, cozy place to lie your head at night.
Why we love it
♥ Unique design blending original Art Deco features with modern style

The hotel is set in a 1911 Haussmann building, giving it that classic Paris charm. Inside, everything has been updated to a modern standard, including the bright and colorful decor. All the spaces in this boutique hotel are cheerful and creative, from the bright blue entranceway to the beautiful cafe bar, covered in stained glass floral patterns. The rooms continue this trend, featuring Art Deco artwork, comfy beds, and lovely little balconies with brightly colored chairs.
The staff here are extremely friendly and welcoming, and will go out of their way to help you enjoy your stay. Depending on what time you are visiting, Little Palace Hotel can offer exceptional value for money, with affordable mid-range rates for an exceptional level of service and ambiance.
Why we love it
♥ Close to Paris’ gay nightlife
♥ Each room in the main building (‘Jules’) has its own floor
♥ Stylish, comfortable rooms and unique courtyard layout
♥ Excellent bar
Hotel Jules & Jim is a popular gay-friendly Paris hotel located in the Marais. It is made up of a main building and two smaller houses, surrounding an lovely secluded courtyard. This gives the hotel an impression of quiet and serenity, even as you stay within the heart of the city.
There are only 23 rooms, but five distinct categories mean that there is plenty of choice. In particular, we recommend the “Jules” rooms for solo travelers, the Hi-Mac rooms for fans of modern design, and the romantic Sous Les Toits (Under The Roofs) room for couples, which have their own small balcony with views of Paris.
There is a cool and trendy bar with courtyard seating which serves inventive cocktails and attracts a crowd of local Parisians as well as hotel guests. The hotel also functions as an art gallery for up-and-coming artists, with a particular focus on photography, illustration, and street art.
Jules & Jim is perfectly located, within a 10-minute walk of the gay bars in the Marais as well as the Picasso Museum, Centre Pompidou, Notre-Dame, and the shops and city-wide transport links of Chatelet. There are a few great gay spots even closer, including CUD (for late-night dancing), Duplex (for artsy intellectual conversations), La Boite A Frissons (for old-fashioned dance hall fun), Le Depot (for cruising), and the huge Sun Sauna.
Why we love it
♥ Excellent location in a quiet area that is still close to everything
♥ Gay nightlife venues just a short walk away
♥ Good value for money for a hotel in central gayborhood
♥ Small hotel sauna
This hotel is located in the north of the Marais – still close to the gay nightlife, but in a quieter area. There is a popular gay bar very close by (One Way, with a primarily leather/denim/bear crowd) as well as a gay cruise bar and a fetish shop. The rest of the Marais’ gay bars are, at most, 15 minutes away.
There are several large Metro stops nearby, meaning you are well-connected to the rest of the city. All the major central Paris attractions, such as the Louvre, Notre-Dame, and Centre Pompidou, can be reached within a pleasant half-hour walk or a quick 15-minute metro ride. Meanwhile, the hotel’s less touristy location means there are some wonderful hidden gems close by: don’t miss out on the Marche des Enfants Rouges, a bustling food market with treats from all over the world, literally across the street.
The hotel is quite basic, offering simple rooms. The decor is a bit dated, but everything is otherwise clean, tidy, and well kept. Rooms are on the small side, but you can go for a larger suite if you need more room. The staff are friendly and available 24/7 in case you need any help or support, and there is even a small sauna area.
Why we love it
♥ Location – Opposite the central Gare du Nord train station
♥ A completely unique style from 25hours
♥ Romantic balconies
♥ New hotel – opened in 2019
Quikery or bonkers the designer have put a lot of effort into the 25hours Hotel Terminus Nord. This new-gen gay-friendly lifestyle hotel sits at Paris’s Gare du Nord train station. Convenient for train travelers and centrally located in the city. However, from here most of Paris’s gay nightlife is about 3km away in Le Marais (gayborhood).
Why we love it
♥ Absolutely one-of-a-kind
♥ Walking distance to most Paris gay nightlife
♥ Le Mensch and One Way, two popular gay bars are just around the corner
♥ Stunning designer rooms by Christian LaCroix
Hotel du Petit Moulin is a beautifully quirky “couture” boutique hotel in the Marais. The building was originally Paris’ first bakery, and the original frontage has been preserved so that you feel like you are entering a classic Boulangerie every time you return to your hotel room.
Inside, the rooms, designed by Christian LaCroix, are also filled with eccentricities, from wildly clashing wallpaper prints to huge murals and colorful patterned tilework in the bathrooms. Some are more flamboyant than others, but all maintain a sense of fun, color, and style. Overall this is not a hotel for those who like a muted palette and a neutral atmosphere.
This is very much an intimate boutique experience – there are only a total of 17 rooms, including an attic Junior Suite. This allows every room to be completely unique. Some have a decadent baroque feel to them, some feature nods to Parisian fashion and architecture, and some are sleek and contemporary.
The location is one of the hotel’s best features. As well as being only a stone’s throw away from the Picasso Museum, it is just a 10-minute walk to most of the bars and clubs in the Marais. There are two gay bars just around the corner: seedy cruise bar Le Mensch and local favorite One Way, popular with a leather and bear crowd. If you want your night to go further, CUD, a small trendy late-night gay club, is just 5 minutes away.
Why we love it
♥ Excellent location for sightseeing in the very heart of Paris
♥ Perfect for honeymooners and couples
♥ Two gay saunas, Sauna IDM and Euro Men’s Club, are within walking distance
♥ French sophistication in every detail
Sofitel Le Scribe Paris Opera was built in 1861 as part of the original development by Haussmann that created the opulent Opera neighborhood as we know it today. It is an example of classic Parisian architecture, and has been part of the city’s history since its inception.
Sofitel prides itself in bringing some French flair to every one of their international hotels. Here, in the very heart of Paris, the result is unapologetically and undeniably Parisian. The rooms and suites are a modern re-imagination of Haussmann’s 19th-century architecture, using a simple neutral color scheme to highlight the opulent, plushy furnishings and impeccable French style.
There is a splendid restaurant, Le Lumiere, which is named in honor of the Lumiere brothers, who invented cinema and held their first private screening in the building that is now Sofitel Le Scribe Paris Opera. L’Obscur bar is luxuriously swanky and old-fashioned, giving you the impressing of stepping back through time. The hotel also has excellent spa and wellness facilities at Keiraõ Spa.
Opera isn’t a particularly gay area, but it is one of Paris’ most iconic and gorgeous neighborhoods. There are a few gay nightlife options nearby, such as Doctor Love and LIM parties at Club Haussmann and Bizarre Love Triangle at Maxim’s, both about 10 minutes away. Two gay saunas, Sauna IDM and Euro Men’s Club, are also walking distance. The gay bars and clubs of the Marais can easily be accessed in under 20 minutes with the Metro.
Why we love it
♥ Matinee, Paris’s biggest and wildest gay parties are just 5 minutes away from the hotel
♥ Close to all the luxury shops, so you don’t have to carry all those bags around the city
♥ Stunning Empire-style rooms for a true Parisian experience
When it comes to Paris locations, it doesn’t get any more iconic than this. Hotel Napoleon is located less than 5 minutes away from the Arc de Triomphe and Champs-Elysées, placing you in the middle of Paris’ luxury shopping area. The rest of the city is easily reached by Metro, with the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Opera, and Marais gay area all reachable within 20 minutes. Matinee Paris, one of the city’s biggest and wildest gay parties, is held at a club just 5 minutes away from the hotel.
As the name implies, Hotel Napoleon is decorated in a lavish Empire style, with rich fabrics, curtained beds, and antique touches. There are both rooms and suites, all beautifully arranged and supremely comfortable. Certain suites have incredible views over the Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower – although these of course are considerably more expensive.
The Bivouac restaurant offers modern twists on classic French cuisine – check out the weekly market lunch menu for something inventive and incredibly fresh. Its terrace is a lovely and quiet place to drink and dine, especially during the warmer months. The hotel also offers a delectable Sunday brunch, with champagne, perfect pastries and cakes, savory treats, and beautifully fresh fruit.
Why we love it
♥ Exceptional location next to the Eiffel Tower – just a 2-minute walk
♥ Good range of room options
♥ 2 minutes walk from Bir Hakeim Metro station
This Mercure hotel is located just minutes from the Eiffel Tower, meaning you are right next to the one thing every visitor to Paris wants to see. While this is a bit removed from both the Marais gayborhood and central Paris landmarks, the city’s trusty Metro means that nothing is ever very far away. There is a great Thai-themed gay sauna about 25 minutes away, and there are sometimes gay events at nearby Palais de Tokyo.
The hotel has been recently renovated and all the rooms are looking stylish and modern. The Eiffel Tower is a recurring theme in the rooms, with large murals of the monument overlooking every bed, but the decor is otherwise simple and minimalist. Most of the rooms look alike, but differ in size, amenities, and view – the Eiffel Tower view in certain rooms never gets old. Privilege rooms have additional luxury bedding, iPod docking, and Nespresso machines, while the suites have heavenly essential oils diffusers in the showers.
The downstairs restaurant is airy and extremely pleasant, and also features a terrace for sunny days. Breakfast is tasty, varied, and good value – especially since cafes in the area are likely to be very pricey. The fitness center is small but has perfect views of the Eiffel Tower, making your workouts in Paris that little bit more special.
Why we love it
♥ High-quality private double bedrooms and dorm rooms
♥ Lively bar, perfect for solo travellers and couples who love partying
♥ La Java, which hosts the popular dance party Le Trou Au Biches is less than 10 minutes away
The People (previously called Les Piaules) is a top-ranking hostel in Paris, offering high-quality dorms and privates for budget travelers. Dorm rooms come in 4, 6, and 8-person sizes, which means you could easily book a full one if you were traveling with friends. Meanwhile, the private rooms at this hostel are more spacious and comfortable than many in regular hotels across Paris.
The hostel has designed their very own “Le Plumard” bunk beds, which feature everything you could want in a compact and practical design. All dorm rooms feature super-comfy beds, fun and bright decor, personal power outlets and reading lights, and super-fast WiFi. If you go for the private room, you will also get a private bathroom, Bluetooth speakers, and a capsule coffee machine.
The hostel has a nice bar and cafe where you can mingle with other travelers. The prices are very reasonable, making this a great spot to start the night with a few drinks and a quick bite of food. As is usually the case with a good hostel, the staff is super cool and friendly.
The People is located in the Belleville area and happens to be close to a few gay nightlife hotspots. La Java, which hosts the popular dance party Le Trou Au Biches, is less than 10 minutes away, and Apollo Theatre, which hosts several regular gay parties, is about a 15-minute walk from the hotel. BUNKER, a popular fetish cruise club, is also very close by.
There are good metro links for reaching other areas of the city, and the hostel is walking distance to the world-famous Pere Lachaise Cemetery.
Why we love it
♥ Within 2 minutes walk from the metro station and close to the Eiffel Tower
♥ Free breakfast
♥ Colorful modern design
♥ There is a great Thai-themed gay sauna just 5 minutes away
The 3 Ducks is a friendly boutique hostel, featuring cool creative design in a historic Parisian building. It is the oldest private hostel in Paris, meaning it has decades of experience in helping budget travelers enjoy the city, but a 2014 renovation has allowed it to stay fresh and current.
The dorms are comfortable and quite large, with 4, 6, and 8-bed options available. You can book an entire private dorm for you and your friends. All dorm beds come with individual plugs, USB ports, reading lights, and safety lockers. There are a few private rooms, all of which are comfortable and affordable for couples.
Both the bar and outside patio are great places to mingle and swap stories with other travelers. There is a free breakfast offered every morning, which despite being basic is still to be appreciated in a pricey city like Paris.
The 3 Ducks is located just 10 minutes away from the Eiffel Tower. This is slightly far away from most of the other Paris highlights, but super close access to Metro line 8 makes it easy for you to reach the more central areas, including the Marais gay neighborhood. There is a great Thai-themed gay sauna just 5 minutes away from the hostel.
